How to care for a Guinea Pig
Mrs. Munz lost some hair after she put her head into the cage to say goodbye to Lily for the weekend. Nobody came to her rescue! Angelica got a good laugh and Mrs. Shulman volunteered to take a snapshot to forever remember this funny moment!
The pictures below show how we care for the guinea pigs in our classroom. We give them hay, pellets, vegies and vitamins in their water everyday! We clean their cage with a special cleaner that is safe for guinea pigs.
When the Guinea pigs go home with students over the weekend they take them home in the smaller travel cage. The also bring home a play pen that the students enjoy spending time in having fun with the guinea pigs.
The guinea pigs are very spoiled. They get their nails done, get brushed, have special coats and even have a leash and harness! They haven't really gotten used to all of these things but they sure do love the attention we give them!
